The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has a wide range of subjects. Performing and teaching the diagnosis and treatment of all kinds of diseases related to the mouth, maxillofacial, temporomandibular joint, maxillary sinus region and its neighbourhood are within the field of interest and responsibility of our department. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th year undergraduate students of our faculty are taught the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to these regions at the theoretical and practical level, and minor surgical procedures and tooth extractions under local anaesthesia are performed under the supervision of clinical assistants and instructors.In addition, undergraduate students are offered opportunities such as taking anamnesis from patients, physician approach to individuals with systemic diseases, consultation of cases requiring multidisciplinary approach, and observing, assisting and providing postoperative care for many cases requiring advanced surgery. Doctorate and speciality education is provided in our department Theoretical and practical training and practice opportunities are offered to speciality and doctoral students on all simple and advanced surgical applications that can be performed under local and general anaesthesia.Doctoral and speciality students are trained in article writing, scientific research planning, case presentation, and are provided with opportunities to train not only clinicians but also academicians by involving them in scientific research such as clinical and laboratory studies.
