Basic medical education is carried out by the Department of Basic Medical Sciences of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. While the Department of Basic Medical Sciences conducts educational activities aimed at teaching the characteristics necessary for the continuation of life, diseases, mechanisms of disease formation, and the fundamental principles of treatment at different stages and years of undergraduate medical education, several related departments also provide specialization training in medicine. In addition, academic activities are carried out for the education of doctoral and master's students within the university.
The Department of Anatomy, Department of Biophysics, Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics, Department of Medical Biochemistry, Department of Histology and Embryology, Department of Physiology, Department of Medical Microbiology, Department of Medical Biology, and Department of Medical Education are included within the Basic Medical Sciences.
