The department provides undergraduate, doctoral, and specialty education. Graduate (master’s) education is conducted in prosthodontics preclinical and phantom laboratories during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years, and applied patient-based training is provided during the 4th and 5th years, while theoretical lessons are held in lecture halls. In graduate education, courses are offered on the science of materials and instruments, fixed and removable prostheses, introduction to implant-supported prostheses, introduction to maxillofacial prostheses, and introduction to digital dentistry applications. These courses are continuously updated in parallel with advances in dentistry.
Doctoral training lasts 4 years, while specialty training lasts 3 years. Courses cover treatment planning and alternatives, material science and its advances, conservative and restorative dental treatments, conventional metal-supported and metal-free crowns and bridge prostheses, removable prostheses, and implant-supported treatment approaches (fixed, removable, and hybrid). Additionally, restorative and prosthetic approaches, digital dentistry applications in fixed, removable, and implant-supported restorations (CAD/CAM), dental photography, digital smile design, face-bow transfer, articulator use, maxillofacial prostheses, and prosthetic treatments for temporomandibular joint disorders are taught, alongside routine patient-based clinical practice.
In our department, current materials and treatment methods are actively followed, and restorative and prosthetic treatments performed using digital technologies are delivered to patients on the same day. The department houses 2 clinics, 1 student laboratory, and 1 technician laboratory. In addition to education and training, our department contributes to national and international studies through academic publications, projects, presentations, and posters, utilizing the opportunities provided to our assistants and faculty members.
