In our Department of Restorative Dentistry, theoretical and clinical education is provided to 3rd, 4th, and 5th-year students, as well as graduate (master’s), specialty, and doctoral students. While 3rd-year students participate in clinical training as observers, 4th- and 5th-year students treat patients on a daily basis under the supervision of a responsible assistant and faculty advisor. The department is also involved in preclinical education. 2nd- and 3rd-year students receive practical training in phantom laboratories using phantom heads and extracted human teeth.
The department’s clinic primarily provides caries prevention applications, treatment of existing carious lesions, aesthetic dental treatments and restorations required for various indications, and vital and non-vital tooth bleaching procedures. After a comprehensive general and intraoral evaluation of the patient, an individualized treatment plan is developed, and treatment is carried out upon patient approval. In recent years, with the increasing aesthetic expectations of patients, direct and indirect aesthetic composite resin restorations, in combination with CAD/CAM systems, have been made available to our patients.
